Understanding Paper Terminology

Our Borden and Riley representative tipped me off to a nice resource on his company’s web site. If you’ve ever wondered about paper weights, materials, and so forth, Borden and Riley’s Paper Talk page is a good place to get started. It’s a fairly short, readable page with just enough technical information to be useful but not so much as to be confusing. Check it out :)

Draw Furry

Hi all! Since this is my first post as an Askew-Taylor blogger, let me introduce myself. I am Kirk Taylor’s daughter. For those of you who don’t know my dad, that’s OK. I hope to be able to coax him to blog with me now and again. He is the owner of the wonderful art supplies store that sponsors this blog site.

In any case, my reason for writing today is that I found a pretty cool web site over the weekend. (At least I think it’s cool.) The site is called “Draw Furry,” and as the name suggests, it is about how to draw cute furry animals. Now, I know not everyone is into cute, furry critters. But the tips on this site could be applied to more realistic drawing. For example, there’s a tutorial on how to sketch out poses before filling in the details so that the final product looks like what you want. There are also some videos in which the artist shows how to use layers in Photoshop or a similar digital art program to brainstorm. Well… I could go on, but the web site speaks for itself.

Just go to http://www.drawfurry.com, and have fun :) I hope this is helpful to someone.

And thanks for reading this blog.

Welcome to Kirk’s Quest!!
